TYLER SAUNDERS
Tyler Saunders‘ journey as an artist began at the age of twelve when a neighbor enrolled him in an art class taught by three elderly sisters. While his early instruction focused on landscape painting, his passion quickly turned toward wildlife. His first wildlife painting, a Great Horned Owl descending upon a pack rat, sold to a local resident for $20 and marked the beginning of a lifelong artistic pursuit.
Over more than five decades of dedicated practice, Saunders has developed a distinctive style rooted in photorealism. Known for his remarkable attention to detail, he strives to capture the character, beauty, and authenticity of the wildlife subjects he paints. Much of his work is created from his own photography, supported by years spent studying animals in their natural environments.
While balancing a successful career in construction, Saunders continued to refine his artistic practice and build a growing reputation among collectors and galleries. His work has been recognized internationally, with multiple paintings advancing to the finals of major art competitions, and he was recently accepted into the prestigious Society of Animal Artists.
As he transitions toward retirement, Saunders looks forward to dedicating even more time to painting and continuing to share his passion for wildlife through art.
