RICHARD SWEATT

Richard D. Sweatt is a Bend-based painter whose creative foundation began in early childhood, encouraged by family and formative art teachers. Born in New Jersey and raised across California, St. Louis, and Chicago, he developed a deep visual language that eventually led to a decades-long career in graphic design and advertising as an art director and creative lead. After more than forty years in the commercial arts, including operating his own design studio, Sweatt returned to painting with renewed focus, working primarily in oil and acrylic. His work reflects a lifetime of observation, discipline, and imagination, shaped by both fine art training and professional design experience.
