DOUGLAS ROBERTSON

Douglas Robertson is an Oregon artist whose work combines hand-cut stencils, acrylic paint, and spray paint to create layered compositions that explore identity, memory, and the connections between people and place. His distinctive process begins with hand-drawn, hand-cut stencils that serve as the foundation for imagery rich in texture, symbolism, and visual storytelling.

Born and raised in Minneapolis, Robertson earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Oregon. Early in his career, he worked as a ceramic tile muralist before developing the mixed-media painting style for which he is known today.

While living in Bend, Oregon, Robertson founded a public arts nonprofit dedicated to mural arts and arts education, helping bring public art projects and creative opportunities to local schools and communities. In 2022, he relocated to Eugene, where he continues his studio practice and serves as Board Chair of the Eugene Saturday Market.

Through his work, Robertson seeks to create visual experiences that invite curiosity, encourage reflection, and celebrate the power of art to connect people and place.
