CRAIG ZUGER

Craig Zuger is an Oregon painter whose work is deeply rooted in a lifelong connection to the landscapes of the American West. Raised in the Willamette Valley, he developed an early appreciation for wilderness, wildlife, and the remote places that continue to inspire his paintings today.

Primarily working in oil, Craig is known for his carefully observed landscapes that balance realism with atmosphere and emotion. Many of his paintings begin with firsthand experiences in the field, often requiring long hikes and backcountry exploration to study the land he later interprets on canvas. His work reflects a deep respect for the natural world and a desire to preserve the sense of wonder found in wild places.

Craig’s artistic path became clear following his participation in the reenactment of the 175th anniversary of Lewis and Clark’s homeward journey, an experience that strengthened his commitment to painting the landscapes of the West. He later received mentorship from acclaimed wildlife artist Terry Isaac, whose guidance helped shape his professional career as a painter. Throughout the years, Craig has remained dedicated to refining his craft through continual study, observation, and a steadfast commitment to the traditions of representational painting.

His work has been represented by galleries throughout the West and has been featured in Art of the West magazine. Craig is a member of the Oil Painters of America and the International Guild of Realism. His paintings are sought by collectors who appreciate both technical excellence and an authentic connection to the land.

Today, Craig continues to live and work in Oregon, creating paintings that celebrate the beauty, character, and enduring spirit of the Western landscape.
