SONDRA HOLTZMAN

Sondra Holtzman approaches painting as a form of visual journaling, gathering impressions from travel, daily observation, and time spent immersed in the natural world. Her sketchbooks serve as an ongoing archive of shifting light, changing seasons, and moments encountered both near and far. These collected studies evolve into finished works that carry a sense of movement, air, and lived experience.

With formal training at Rhode Island School of Design and California College of the Arts, Sondra brings a strong foundation in design to her fine art practice. Early work as a freelance designer in San Francisco, creating artwork for national clients, sharpened her eye for composition and clarity. That balance of structure and freedom continues to shape her land and seascapes today.

Her paintings reflect a deep attentiveness to place, translating atmosphere and memory into luminous, layered compositions that feel both grounded and expansive.
