Join cartoonist Carolyn Parker in this introduction to cartooning class. We will begin with doodling to create ideas and loosen up our drawing muscles. You'll then think about a character you want to create whether it be an animal, person, or fantasy creature, you will envision it first and follow Carolyn's instruction in considering different aspects of what it takes to bring your character to life. We will explore drawing basic shapes used in cartoons, learn about the action line, talk about volume and shape used to create 3D characters, discuss the 7- 8 head rule for figure drawing, practice different body shapes, basic animal shapes, etc.At the end of class you will have created a finished character drawing based on the your initial ideas.
