Oil Pastel on Panel
Unlike soft pastels and watercolor, both of which have existed for centuries, oil pastels are a uniquely twentieth-century medium.
The most important difference between oil and soft pastels is that oil pastels are completely dustless. This medium goes down on panel primarily as a paste rather than as microscopic particles that attach themselves to the paper fiber.
In the not-so-distant past, oil pastels were considered barely a step above children’s crayons – but they have come a long way since then! Welcome to a new, exciting frontier in artistic expression.
